United Nations Arabic Language Day at Muslim National School
18th Dec 2025
Today, Thursday, 18 December 2025, the Muslim National School proudly honoured the annual United Nations Arabic Language Day.
Arabic is the third language taught at the MNS. From Junior Infants, students are introduced to the foundations of modern spoken Arabic, classical Arabic through Qaaidah Nooraniyah (learning to read the Qur’an), and Qur’an memorisation. Over the decades, the school has worked tirelessly to align Arabic linguistic diversity and cultural appreciation seamlessly within the curriculum.
To mark the global importance of the Arabic language, Ms Sofia’s students designed elegant geometric Arabic alphabets, which are beautifully displayed in the school hall.
Did you know? This date marks the day in 1973 when the United Nations General Assembly adopted Arabic as the sixth official language of the Organisation as it is the 6th most spoken language in the world.

Our students also dressed in traditional cultural attire to celebrate this enriching occasion. Arabic inspired artwork has decorated the walls and the students have done presentations of the language.
