Traffic Safety Issues
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Assalamu Alaikum.
I wish to begin by extending my sincere gratitude for your continued patience and understanding throughout the ongoing access situation at the ICCI campus.
As we continue to navigate this situation together, I must bring your attention to a matter of critical importance - the safety of our children during drop-off and collection times.
Firstly, I want to acknowledge that the vast majority of you are already parking legally and considerately, for which I am very thankful. I am aware, however, that a small number of parents, perhaps due to fatigue from the ongoing situation, are engaging in parking and driving manoeuvres that pose a significant risk to our students' safety.
Specifically, I must urgently request the following
1. Please do not pull into or block the gate well beside the school. This area is not a parking or waiting zone. It is critically necessary to keep completely clear to allow children arriving by school buses to alight safely onto the footpath and enter the school grounds without having to navigate between vehicles.
2. Never undertake a U-turn at the school gate. This manoeuvre in a congested area, with many young children present, is extremely dangerous.
The safety of every child is our absolute highest priority. To that end, I must inform you that the Gardaí visited the school today following complaints from the public regarding unsafe parking and driving behaviour during drop-off times.
The Gardaí have asked me to inform our school community that, from next Monday onwards, they will be actively monitoring the area and will address any instances of illegal parking and dangerous driving manoeuvres. This may result in fixed charge penalties.
I am sharing this information not to alarm you, but to emphasise the seriousness of this issue and to give everyone fair warning. I kindly urge every parent to ensure they are following the rules of the road to protect all our children and to avoid any penalties.
Thank you for your cooperation and for working with us to ensure a safe environment for our students.
Jazakum Allahu Khayran.
With sincere appreciation,
John Mc Donnell
